Birth Doula Support

Calm, Continuous Support for Labor and Birth

Birth support is not about making sure everything goes exactly according to plan. It is about helping you feel informed, supported, and cared for no matter how your birth unfolds.

As your birth doula, I provide emotional support, physical comfort measures, prenatal preparation, partner guidance, and continuous support during labor and birth.

Birth doula support may include:

  • Prenatal visits to discuss your preferences and prepare for labor
  • Help understanding common birth options and interventions
  • Comfort measures such as counter-pressure, position changes, movement, breathing, and relaxation
  • Continuous support during active labor and birth
  • Support for your partner or chosen support person
  • Help communicating questions and preferences to your care team
  • Immediate postpartum support after birth
  • Early feeding and skin-to-skin guidance within my scope

I support hospital births, inductions, epidural births, unmedicated births, planned cesareans, unexpected cesareans, and families preparing for a VBAC.

You do not need to want a particular type of birth to benefit from a doula. You simply need to want steady support throughout the experience.

Birth and Postpartum Support

Continuity of Care From Pregnancy Through the Newborn Weeks

The Birth and Postpartum Vortex Package is designed for families who want support that continues beyond the birth room.

Instead of building a relationship during pregnancy and saying goodbye shortly after your baby arrives, this package allows us to continue working together as you recover, learn your baby, and settle into life at home.

Support may include:

  • Prenatal preparation
  • On-call availability
  • Continuous labor and birth support
  • Immediate postpartum care
  • In-home postpartum visits
  • Newborn care education
  • Feeding support
  • Postpartum recovery support
  • Light household help
  • Time for you to shower, eat, rest, or regroup
  • Ongoing reassurance as your family finds a new rhythm

This option may be especially supportive for first-time parents, families without local support, cesarean families, or parents who want more continuity during the transition from pregnancy to postpartum.

Lactation and Newborn Feeding Education

Practical Feeding Support Without Pressure or Judgment

Feeding your baby can be natural and still require education, patience, and support.

As a Certified Lactation Educator, I provide evidence-based guidance for families who are breastfeeding, pumping, bottle-feeding, combination-feeding, or still deciding what feeding may look like.

Lactation and feeding education may include:

  • Prenatal breastfeeding preparation
  • Early hunger and fullness cues
  • Common newborn feeding patterns
  • Basic latch and positioning education
  • Milk production and supply education
  • Pumping and milk-storage guidance
  • Bottle-feeding and paced-feeding education
  • Combination-feeding support
  • Partner education
  • Help recognizing when an IBCLC or medical provider is needed

My role is not to pressure you toward one feeding method. It is to help you understand your options and create a feeding plan that supports both your baby and your well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I hire a birth doula?

Many families begin reaching out during the second trimester, but there is no single correct time. Contacting a doula earlier gives us more time to build a relationship and prepare together. Later inquiries are welcome when availability allows.

Can I hire you for postpartum support without hiring you for birth?

Yes. Birth doula, postpartum doula, and lactation education services may be booked separately.

Do you only support unmedicated births?

No. I support medicated births, unmedicated births, inductions, epidurals, planned cesareans, unexpected cesareans, and families preparing for VBAC.

Do you replace my partner?

No. A doula does not replace a partner or support person. I help your partner feel more supported, prepared, and involved while ensuring they do not have to remember or manage everything alone.

Are doula services medical care?

No. Doula and lactation education services are non-medical. I do not diagnose conditions, perform clinical procedures, make medical decisions, or replace your physician, midwife, nurse, pediatrician, therapist, or IBCLC.

Do you provide overnight postpartum care?

Parent Vortex currently offers daytime postpartum doula support rather than overnight care.

Do you support formula and bottle-feeding families?

Yes. Feeding support is available for breastfeeding, pumping, bottle-feeding, combination-feeding, and formula-feeding families.

Where do you provide services?

Parent Vortex serves Arvada and surrounding Denver metro communities. Contact me with your city or ZIP code to confirm travel availability.
